Changes...

Ok, gang, I'm here, too! It seems that you are having lots of fun and letting off some steam after 16 weeks of the semester. Phew! Play is important... perspective is everything, you know! Besides for keeping up on what is going on in your lives, I'd really be interested in your observations and experiences in which you are seeing, using, and living the skills we learned!

Also, anyone should be able to start a new thread here. Or not? Email me so that I can add you as an author...

At the risk of your kicking me out of the sandbox, when I saw this today, I wanted to share. See what you think... The video is great, but the narrative re: food/resources/energy is powerful, too.

Comments???

(If this is too intrusive to your play, I'll post such tree-hugging links to The VUJ Green Group Blog, http://vujgreen.blogspot.com/ although all you "converts" aren't there!).

  1. Hi Jan!! Great to read you! lol I don't see a way to thread..just post comment on main page. But I'm not a blogger so I may be missing something.

Your global warming is always welcome here! My email for this is Schepe8@aol.com.

My best friend got out of rehab and is doing very good. I have told her all about interpersonal and she loved my forgiveness paper. She wants to read our interpersonal book...as I have got her very interested. It's awesome that you taught us..now I have a chance to enlighten a friend who is in desperate need. She has so much anger and hurt it breaks my heart..but she has been clean 33 days today and I am so happy my OLD friend is coming back to me:)

Hope you are having a great summer Jan.

  2. Thanks for sharing the link, I will check it out this evening, it will keep my mind busy:) And Lisa is right, your knowlege and findings are always welcome here. This is all good info...I thought about you today when we were walking around the book store....all kinds of books on being friendly to the environment...one was '1001 Things You Can do to Save the Planet.' Of course you could put them on Facebook too....I know Aubrey would love to see the stuff you find:)
You know that boy that went missing at ISU was a good friend of hers....very sad.

  3. That video was very creative! And a great message.I enjoy reading the banter between people. Someone suggested the Amazon was being deforested because of vegans???? And those thin little walmart bags do not biodegrade...they photodegrade, meaning they harden in the sun and break into smaller and smaller pieces..contaminating the soil, water and killing animals. How very sad..they should stop making them period...and force consumers to use reusable cloth bags...the only way to cure the problem is to RID the problem! Some people will never care...they will only do it if they must.Walmart has cloth bags near the checkout for 1 dollar. Small price to pay.

  4. I agree Lisa! It's because it is still available. Sometimes you have to force people to change. You know in a lot of bigger cities,it is mandatory to recycle. Where my dad lives, they have two trash days a week, one for recycled stuff and one for regualar trash. They complained at first, but now they are fine with it. Things like that don't take a lot of effort...ya know?

  6. okay. I read not too long ago that a county in california was outlawing grocery bags. there is a company who is taking advantage of this and replacing "walmart" bags with the biodegadable bags like what is used for composting. I think it is great... everything goes back to compost... tee-hee.

and just so you all know, i still plan on composting at my new place... and there is still time to do some gardening (even though stuff is starting to come up real nice in my other garden)... maybe i can get enough beans and corn to still do some canning this year.. accentuate the positive. :>

  7. Since this is where Jan posted about us telling about our skills....

I would like to say I am REALLY using my dual perspective and MONITORING!! My husband and I are caught in the middle between our 2 best friends...the parents to the 2 kids I have for the summer. The mom is my best friend from 4th grade..and her hubby is my husband's best friend. Since they are fighting and we have the kids we have BOTH sides tellin us all kinds of BS.....We are being supportive of BOTH...and trying hard to remain neutral. It's so sad when things like this happen...We are a gang...the 4 of us...playin cards etc...it's just not the same knowing they may not get back together. Bummed out....
