We recently rented "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "Eagle Eye"......both of them were very good.
Family Night?? " Bedtime Stories" with Adam Sandler....very cute movie!

I know it has been out forever, but we watched Mr.Deeds with Adam Sandler. It was very good, had a good story and was hillarious too.
ReplyDeleteRented Appaloosa and Quantum of Solace, I liked Appaloosa better than the James Bond, maybe because it was a calmer story line, but if you like JB, well there was plenty of action, and lots of stuff going on at the same time.
Both had good story lines. Renee Zellweger played a different type of character in Appaloosa, and did a very good job, as usual.
We also got 'Way of War' with Cuba Gooding Jr. It was hard for me to follow, and I fell asleep, never did finish it and hubby said I didn't miss anything. So off it went back to Netflix.
We love Net Flix! Movies around here are so expensive, we can get them from net flix and don't have to worry about havin back at any certain time....and we don't spend the gas money.
ReplyDeleteWe have three we are goin to watch this weekend...they are, Eagle Eye, Jumper, and My Best Friend's Girl.....then on the DVR we have Open Water 2 and some other random movies we taped. Fun-filled weekend with the family.
NET FLIX RULES!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete....okay...I'm outta the loop. So I must ask the dumb question....
ReplyDeleteWhat is Net Flix??
lol
I can't believe can answer a question!! I am so excited!!!
ReplyDeleteYou can go online join, they have different programs, we do one movie at a time for 9.95 a month. They send you the movie in the mail, and you watch it and send it back whenever you want, no deadline, you just can't get another movie until they recieve that one back. You can get 1 movie at a time or they have other choices, that cost more, You start selecting movies from their site and build a list, and they have pretty much any movie you can think of, to make my long story short, go to www.netflix.com and they can explain better.
ty ty Lisa
ReplyDeleteWe do the 3 movie package...we have it all down to an art. If you send your movies back on Monday after the weekend....they get them on Tuesday and mail out 3 more and you get them by Wed......watch them Wed night....then mail them back on Thurs....then they get them on Fri. and mail out 3 more...and you get them on Sat.
ReplyDeleteWhew....it's a cycle, but we can most times get 6 movies a week for $18.22 total, tax and all. Very good deal...and if you don't get to it one week, you can keep them as long as you like with no late charges.
Oh the $18.22 is per month btw ;)
ReplyDeleteWould it be interesting for everyone to make a list of their top ten favorite movies of all time? (I love lists!...and Netflix, too!)

Like Skip said...this is tough..so many movies! But these are ones I can watch again and again...but there are still so many..I can't think!!
We watched The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and The Kite Runner. Both tear jerkers. Kite Runner is a bittersweet story of two boys, one betrayed by the other. The movie begins with the main character getting a phone call telling him 'there is a way to be good again.' Good movie.
ReplyDeleteThe Boy in the Striped Pajamas is very good movie about a family during WWII. The ending is very shocking...and that is all I am going to say about that.
Lisa2.....I agree totally with Legends of the Fall.....SHREDDER..
ReplyDeleteI have not started my list, But I have 3 in my mind already...
lol Skip...good luck...well..my list isn't perfect...other than my top few...i kinda just filled in the rest with some i have watched alot...too many movies out there!
ReplyDeletelisa2 I have decided to leave out horror movies from my top ten... just not enough room, they should be a top ten all by themselves.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who is going to post the top ten?? lol I was hoping you all were going to provide some good lists so I could watch some of your favorite movies!
ReplyDeleteLife sure is getting in the way, as I have read other people say on here. I haven't posted much myself lately.
I do hope everyone is enjoying their summer and time with families.
Byeee
ok i have had family in and summer class, and mom, life has slowed us down... BUT I will soon post my movies..... I reserve the right to change the order and add or delete movies, if i think of one that i left out that should be there.
ReplyDeleteI will have 10 of my favorites soon...
We decided Friday night to have a lazy Saturday, since we didn't expect any company, so we stopped by the video store and rented some movies.
ReplyDeleteDefiance is an excellent movie. Based on a true story of the Bielski brothers during WWII. I liked it, I will buy it if I ever see it on the $5 rack at WalMart.
Next we watched Gran Torino. It had alot of language, but I absolutely loved this movie. It has a good story, Clint Eastwood growls alot in it, but his character makes a difference in a couple of kids lives, it is funny, sad, and, as usual, Clint gets his revenge.
We still have the Inside Man with Denzel Washington and Valkyrie with Tom Cruise to watch.
So, did it take us all day to watch 2 movies??? Nope, we had company.....
How was Valkyrie, Lisa? I saw that at the movie store the other day but didn't rent it.
ReplyDeleteSkip...lol...with everything you and Mary have going on...I GUESS it is okay if you are late. You crack me up about adding and deleting! I knew when I made my list...so many movies..I would be thinking...Oh crap I forgot that one! lmao Too funny!
I have a job interview at Family Video tomorrow! Then I will remember all kinds of movies! If I get the job, that is. Gonna try to work and go to school. In the fall...I may change my mind with 5 classes!
Valkyrie was okay. It is also based on a true story, a plot to kill Hitler, and of course you know how that goes...If you like war movies or Tom Cruise, he looks pretty hot with an eye patch.....
ReplyDeleteOh, Sorry Skip......back on track here!
Gran Torino and Defiance were just hard acts to follow this weekend!
Skip’s…..TOP TEN……Being the “Christmas Guy”.
ReplyDeleteReally it is impossible to pick the top ten, and the order…. anyone of my top 5 picks could be called Number #1…..They ALL are killers….

#1 It’s a Wonderful Life
#1 Christmas Vacation
#1 Planes, Trains and Automobiles

OK so I finally post my movies and NO ONE comments....
ReplyDeleteThe Blog is truly dead......
Where is the month of July???? HELLO
ok skip..lol I of course totally agree with Legends...and Willie WOnka! My sis and I watched that 100 times when we were little! The newer one sucked, I thought!
ReplyDeleteHave never seen Shawshank Redemption. I need too, i have heard it was good.
I just watched it 100 times this summer.
ReplyDeleteTIMELESS CLASSIC....
WONKA RULES!!!!!!!!
I think I have seen Shawshank Redemption a 100 times, it is one of Jim's favorite movies.
ReplyDeleteWatched "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" this past weekend. I liked it, a little far fetched, but a good story none the less, it makes you laugh and cry some too.
We got "Seven Pounds" with Will Smith today, so hopefully we will get that watched sometime this weekend.
